This is a documentary project that explores the various aspects of Taiwan and Taiwanese culture. It includes the diversity of both the landscape and the people. An interesting aspect of life in Taiwan is the state of development that the country is undergoing. You can ride a High Speed Train to one of the tallest buildings in the world, but along the way you will pass fields being plowed by oxen and religious ceremonies that incorporate self flagellation. It seems as if this country is simultaneously living in a high-tech, modern world of the future, while keeping one foot deeply rooted in the traditions of its past. I employed the use of both film and digital photography as a means to convey the modern and the traditional traits of Taiwan.
