Communication is essential to our existence as well as an incredible signifier of the human evolutionary process. The evolution of communication is astounding when it is physically apparent that two people do not speak the same language. The initial attempt at each other's mother tongue, the search for a common language, and the final step into the grunts and sounds of a language that can only be defined by the coinciding gestures and body movements.

This project represents a study into this communication divide and what could be done to communicate the desire to photograph a random Taiwanese citizen as they went about their saturday afternoons and evenings. The photograph and camera are both devices that transcend the necessity of spoken word, and as a result of this, communication occurred through smiles, grunts, points and small games of charades.
